2012 Project V9 Old Block Cabernet Sauvignon
Perfumed bouquet showing red and dark berry fruits with hints of chocolate and cedar.
The palate displays sweet red and dark berry fruit with nuances of sweet chocolate and earthy notes contributing a slight savoury edge to the wine. From a season which delivered excellent concentration and elegance, the palate offers great length and balance, supported by soft silky tannins and seamlessly integrated French oak.
Succulent slow-cooked beef cheek and polenta would be ideal. If you don't have 12 hours spare, a crumbly aged Cheddar a baguette will do the trick!
Cellar Potential20 yearsWinemaking NotesThis wine is a pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from our Old Block which was planted in 1978. The consistently warm ripening period afforded by the 2012 vintage has produced a wine with great richness and concentration. Matured in fine-grained French oak for 20 months, this elegant wine reflects a true sense of place, displaying vibrant red and black fruits with complex, earthy gravelly notes and fine silky tannins.
