2015 Broadvale Block 5 Chardonnay
Lifted citrus notes with hints of savoury oak
The fine and elegant palate displays a complex array of citrus fruits with hints of dried pears. A tightly structured wine with excellent texture and savoury oak derived notes, underpinned by a crisp natural acidity.
Intense seafood such as crayfish and salmon. Great with cheese too!
Cellar PotentialUp to 10 yearsWinemaking NotesAn excellent ripening period for Chardonnay has produced a classic expression of this wine, displaying the hallmark concentrated citrus fruit flavours for which the Gin Gin clone is renowned. Early hand-harvesting, use of wild yeast fermentation and grape solids, combined with regular batonnage, have all contributed texture, complexity and balance to the wine. Sensitive winemaking techniques and the use of French oak, produced a wine with great flavour concentration and texture, which is rich yet complex and elegant.
Accolades2018 Wine CompanionJames HallidayEstate-grown Gingin clone, hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed, fermented and matured in French oak (13% new). Its sheer power and drive is remarkable, and it would sit comfortably alongside a Grand Cru white Burgundy. A great trio of '15 Voyager Estate Chardonnays. 96 pts
