Winemaker notes
The start of the 2008 growing season was quite cool and damp and by November we were heading into a great Margaret River summer. Beautiful warm-to-hot days, mild nights and a lack of rainfall combined to produce one of the best red wine vintages the region has seen. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot yeilds were very low - between four and five tonnes per Hectare. The low-yeilding vintage and perfect weather conditions allowed exemplary tannin ripeness and saw stunning, vibrant fruit flavours of blackberry, black cherry and mulberry develop in the fruit which was harvested during late March and early April.
