Winemaker notes
The 2005 vintage in Margaret River was the first vintage to satisfy the requirements of Tom Price for Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The fruit for this wine comes from our old Estate vines planted in 1978. The fruit was selected because of its intense flavour and piercing acidity coupled with the full spectrum of fruit flavours. It was hand picked and whole-bunch pressed. The final wine shows off the best of an outstanding vintage in our vineyards.
Making the Tom Price Sauvignon Blanc Semillon presents a rare treat for a winemaker. Whilst Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blends are well-known in Margaret River, the style we use for Tom Price is a departure from the standard blend and grants us the opportunitiy to work with these two varieties in an uncommon and interesting way. The result is a distinctive savoury-styled Sauvignon Blanc Semillon. This wine is all about structure and texture rather than overt fruit power. It rewards those looking for a more complex and intriguing wine that still provides the crispness and freshness typical of these two varieties.

Pale straw with green hues
Nose:
The savoury perfume of this wine leads with herbs, young olive and straw. Guava, grapefruit, lychee and lemon blossum are also evident. There is some subtle oak noticeable in the background
Palate:
Tight savoury fruits of green olive, citrus and honey along with herbs and gentle oak give this wine a serious nature which is supported by a natural, clean acid and refreshing long palate.
